  • Ponte USB para UART: Supports transfer rates of up to 3 Mbps for firmware flashing and serial communication.
  • Four Function Buttons + LED RGB: Enables rapid development and testing of user interfaces for audio applications.
  • Fonte de energia: USB tipo C (Poder) is used only for power supply; USB tipo C (UART) suporta fonte de alimentação, firmware piscando, e comunicação serial. A power switch and a 5 V power indicator are provided.
  • Power Conversion: A buck converter provides 3.3 V system power; um 5 V-to-3.3 V LDO supplies power to the audio circuit; 3.3 V-to-2.8 V and 3.3 V-to-1.5 V LDOs supply power to the camera module.
  • Áudio: ES8389 codec, two NS4150B power amplifiers, left and right microphones, and left and right speaker ports.
  • Armazenar: microSD card slot; reserved SPI NAND Flash footprint (not populated by default).
  • Interação: Four function buttons (detected via GPIO42 using resistor-divider ADC sensing) and an RGB LED (driven by GPIO37).
  • Flashing and Debugging: Boot button and Reset button.

The development board supports Espressif’s ESP-IDF, as well as multiple frameworks covering different application scenarios:

EstruturaApplication Area

Hardware necessário: ESP32-S31-Korvo-1 V1.1, LCD sub-board ESP32-S3-LCD-EV-Board-SUB3, one or two speakers, two USB 2.0 data cables (standard Type-A to Type-C), e um computador (Windows, Linux, ou macOS).

Optional Hardware: microSD card

  1. Connect the LCD sub-board to the LCD sub-board connector.
  2. Connect the speakers to the speaker output ports.
  3. Use two USB cables to connect the computer to the two USB ports on the development board, respectively.
  4. Switch the power switch to ON.
  5. The red power indicator lights up, indicating that the board is powered on properly.

Próximo, follow the ESP-IDF Quick Start Guide to set up the development environment and flash the firmware. There are two ways to enter download mode: manually hold down Boot while pressing Reset once, or initiate automatic downloading through the serial port DTR/RTS signals using software.

Dica: Please use USB cables that support data transmission. Some cables support charging only and cannot be used for programming.

  • Power Supply Current: When connecting an external high-power speaker and simultaneously supplying power to external devices through the USB Type-A port, ensure that the development board’s total input current meets the 3 A requirement.
  • ES8389 Audio Format: DAC and ADC signals must be transmitted to the SoC in TDM (Time-Division Multiplexing) format. Alfinete 4 (MCLK) of the ES8389 can be configured via registers to serve as TDMIN.
  • Shared GPIOs Between microSD and SPI NAND: Both use GPIO20–GPIO25 by default, with the microSD function enabled. To switch to SPI NAND Flash, hardware rework is required, involving the removal and installation of multiple components. The rework procedures differ for 1.8 V and 3.3 V NAND devices. Refer to the official user guide and schematic for details.
  • Boot Mode Pin Multiplexing: Some LCD and camera signals also serve boot mode functions, such as GPIO38, GPIO39, GPIO40, GPIO60, and GPIO61. Refer to the official pin assignment table during design and debugging.
  • Serial Port Driver: Most operating systems automatically recognize the device. If it is not recognized, refer to Espressif’s documentation for instructions on installing the serial port driver.

The ESP32-S31-Korvo-1 V1.1 integrates voice capture, stereo output, a camera, LCD display, microSD storage, and multi-protocol wireless connectivity on a single development board. It is also supported by ESP-IDF and various higher-level frameworks. Whether you are developing smart speakers, voice-interactive displays, or validating Matter/Thread devices and audio/video terminals, it provides a comprehensive hardware platform that is quick to get started with.
